Spend points around a core loop

Start with the ability you press in nearly every encounter. Improve its duration, radius or cooldown before adding a bonus that appears only in a perfect situation. A focused grid creates a noticeable playstyle; a grid filled with unrelated bonuses creates a character that is average at everything.

Read each perk as part of a loop: activate ability, create space, deal damage, recover and repeat. If a perk does not improve one of those steps, leave it for later.

Leveling without wasting upgrades

Use normal missions to learn the grid, then test a new branch in the same mission where you already know the spawn doors. This gives you a clean comparison. Avoid resetting the entire build after one bad wave; identify whether the problem was damage, range, control or survival first.

  • Unlock the class-defining ability branch first.
  • Pair cooldown bonuses with abilities that control spawns.
  • Use weapon perks only when the weapon is your regular primary.
  • Keep one spare configuration for objective-heavy missions.

Respec for the mission

A good endgame build is not permanent. Respec when a mission demands longer holds, more precision damage or safer revives. Keep a screenshot or note of your dependable build so experimentation never costs you a reliable setup.

Frequently asked questions

What perks should I unlock first?

Prioritize the ability and weapon bonuses that affect your main encounter loop, especially cooldown, control and reliable weak-point damage.

Should I respec often?

Respec when the mission exposes a repeatable weakness; avoid changing every slot after a single unlucky run.
