Xenomorph Enemy Guide: Spitters, Warriors & More

Recognize every xenomorph threat by movement and audio, then use the correct focus-fire order to stop a swarm before it reaches melee range.

Threat priority beats kill count

The nearest enemy is not always the most dangerous enemy. Prioritize threats that remove movement space, interrupt revives or attack from outside your firing lane. A coordinated squad can ignore a few drones while deleting a Spitter, burster or Warrior that would otherwise force a retreat.

Call enemies by type and direction. “Warrior left, close” is more useful than “big one,” especially when visual effects make silhouettes hard to read.

Drones, Runners and Bursters

Drones are pressure: predictable, numerous and dangerous only when they stack. Keep them at the edge of the firing lane and avoid chasing stragglers. Runners punish tunnel vision, so the rear player should keep a close-range weapon ready. Bursters must be finished away from the formation; their death effect can turn a clean room into a panic retreat.

Use choke points against basic enemies, but never trap the squad in a corner without a movement plan. The safest lane always includes a route around the next wave.

Spitters, Prowlers and Warriors

Spitters are priority targets because their ranged damage makes cover unsafe. Move laterally when the projectile is telegraphed, then focus fire while the enemy is exposed. Prowlers create a similar problem through sudden melee pressure; keep audio awareness and do not reload while separated from the squad.

Warriors are endurance threats. Break line of sight when they commit to an attack, then punish the recovery animation. Do not scatter: a Warrior isolated against one player is dangerous, while the whole squad can burn it down during a controlled retreat.

  • Spitter: call immediately and delete before the next drone wave.
  • Prowler: keep the rear clear and avoid solo reloads.
  • Warrior: kite together, punish recovery and save control for the final push.
  • Burster: kill away from the squad and watch the death zone.

Reading audio and spawn doors

Enemy audio is an early warning system. When the music changes or a distinctive screech comes from a side corridor, stop advancing and face the likely entry. Spawns are easier when the squad watches the door together; they become chaotic when one player runs ahead and activates the next trigger before the team is ready.

Frequently asked questions

Which xenomorph should I focus first?

Usually the ranged or space-denying special: Spitters and enemies that can interrupt movement take priority over basic drones.

How do I deal with Warriors?

Keep the team together, kite around cover, avoid panic reloads and focus during the Warrior’s recovery window.
